DOWNTOWN WALKABOUT LEADS TO DREAM TIME FOR THE FUTURE
The Downtown Loveland Design Committee met on Thursday August 14 at 7:30 am to do a downtown walkabout. This activity consisted of doing a walk up and down 4^th Street to assess design ideas and issues and identify projects for the team.
The members of the Design Committee who were present were- Barry Floyd, Bill Cassells, Cheryl Parker, DJ Browne, Ingrid McMillan-Ernst, Jim Cox, and Larry Gilliam. Joining us were Bob Doolittle, DLA Board member, Jan Brown, DLA President, Andy Smith, Loveland Downtown Team member, and Lou Ann Ball, The Community Foundation.
The walk began at Anthology Book Company and worked west along the south side of 4^th Street. The group listened to an idea presentation by Andy Smith on flower pots/baskets for the sidewalk areas in downtown.
The issues that were discussed were: the pocket park space, the alley space by Country Junction restaurant, deferred maintenance for sidewalks, light poles and streets, vacant buildings and remedies for vacant storefronts, and building and business owner opportunities.
The committee came up with a list of deferred maintenance items with pictures that were taken by Jim Cox of Architecture Plus. The list has been forwarded to Keith Reester, City of Loveland Public Works director, who has responded favorably to the requests. The Design Committee has also been actively attending the Loveland Downtown Team meetings since they began and was successful in getting a representative from the Design Committee on the Downtown Streetscape Steering Committee. Bill Cassells is a member of the Streetscape Steering Committee and will be representing downtown interests for the new streetscape design. The DLA lobbied for a voice on this important committee so that the views of our members would be represented.
We welcome input from members and from the community. Please join us! The DLA Design Committee meets the first Thursday of each month at at 7:30 am at Circle Moon Coffee House.

DECEMBER WINTERWALK DOWNTOWN A GREAT SUCCESS!
Children having their photos taken perched on Santa's lap at Lux, horse-drawn wagon rides outside of Anthology, hot cider and prizes at Almosta for first shoppers to mention WinterWalk - all contributed to a festive shopping event downtown on December 6th.
Live music filled the air at the park at 4th and Lincoln, with local favorites such as DJ Brown and Tm Wahler performing. Coffee Tree sold tons of hot chocolate as browsers came in to Anthology to warm up.
Thanks to all the vendors who decorated their windows and provided refreshments, and a big thank you to the Historic Fourth Street District for doing a great job with the event! It was the first time this group has planned and hosted the event, with a little help from DLA volunteers, including Doug and Leslie Collins.
NOVEMBER NETWORKING PARTY
Thank you to Susan Richards of Sage Moon Originals for hosting the November networking party at her art gallery on Fourth Street. Attendees enjoyed the food and drink, birthday cake from Schmidt's and catching up on DLA news.
