ABOUT DLA NETWORKING EVENTS

DLA networking events are held quarterly and include downtown updates and speakers.

We often partner with other organizations in hosting events and presenting information pertinent to downtown Loveland.

WHO CAN HOST A NETWORKING EVENT

Any member of the DLA can host a meeting, which brings potential clients in to their business. Members may also choose to host or co-host a meeting at a location other than their place of business, such as at a restaurant or event venue.

Any partnering organization, such as the Loveland Chamber of Commerce, may also host a networking event in conjunction with the DLA.

REFRESHMENTS

Refreshments and beverages are usually offered by the host.

Bill Cassells

  • Prior to returning to Colorado in 2007, Bill spent a 27 year career as a civil engineer with the U.S. Forest Service in the states of Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Colorado. After retiring from the Forest Service, he established his own business performing residential and commercial building inspections in Bellingham, WA for 10 years until retiring here in Loveland. While living in Bellingham and other communities similar in size to Loveland, Bill saw a variety of outstanding downtown revitalization projects inspired by progressive leadership and fueled with community involvement. Bill believes that nothing reflects the heart and soul of any community more than its downtown. He wants to focus his efforts in pursuit of a vital and energetic downtown Loveland of which we can all be proud.

 

Celeste Smith

  • Celeste joined the Downtown Loveland Association board in November of 2009. Smith is an active member in the community who shares in the vision of  building a sustainable downtown location for residents, visitors, businesses, community members and merchants alike.  “Watching the downtown area grow and become a vibrant location that connects too all parts of the city is very exciting”, comments Smith. The abundance of beautiful art, architectural diversity, rich history, gorgeous mountain views and lakes, as well as a plethora of community events is what drew Smith to Loveland four years ago.
  • Smith has an extensive background in marketing and event management. Her event portfolio includes international conferences, corporate events, community events and tradeshows. As the Marketing Manager for McWhinney, Smith is responsible for developing and implementing the overall marketing, branding and strategic marketing plans for McWhinney and its various entities/projects. Smith creates and oversees the execution of the company’s brand platforms, event programming, advertising/graphic design, communications/presentations as well as website management and social media. She currently serves as the Secretary for the 2010 Leadership Loveland Program and enjoys volunteering regularly within the community where she can make a difference and create positive experiences for other people.

  • CEO and secretary/treasurer of Schlosser Signs, has been a member of the Downtown Loveland Association since 2007, and is one of DLA’s newest board members. She was appointed to a three-year term in our March 2010 elections.
  • She has extensive experience in small business, and is responsible for sales and marketing and a variety of HR and other tasks at her company. A long-time local resident, she combines her skills and experience as an entrepreneur with her passion for the local community and an understanding of the political and economic issues that impact Loveland, both downtown and across the city.
  • Carla started Schlosser Signs, Loveland’s only full-service custom sign company, in 1999 with her husband. She’s worked to steadily grow the company since then, for more than 10 years as secretary/treasurer, and as CEO since 2007. With her skills and guidance, Schlosser Signs has succeeded in winning industry awards and numerous high profile jobs throughout Colorado and Wyoming. The company currently employs 17, and celebrated its 10th anniversary late in 2009 by purchasing its own building.
  • Carla has four children, and loves the outdoors, reading and education.
